About the Monastery

Nestled in the heart of Georgian capital Tbilisi's serene landscapes, king David's monastery stands as a testament to centuries of spiritual devotion and cultural heritage. Established in the year 2001, it continues to serve as a place of worship, reflection, and community gathering. The architecture reflects traditional Georgian craftsmanship, blending natural stone with ornate details that echo the monastic values of humility and resilience.

King David, after whom our monastery is named, is one of the most revered figures in the Bible and a central character in the history of Israel. Anointed as a shepherd boy, David rose to prominence through his unwavering faith in God, famously defeating the giant Goliath with just a sling and a stone. As king, he united the tribes of Israel and established Jerusalem as its capital, making it a spiritual and political center. Beyond his military and political achievements, David was also a gifted poet and musician, traditionally credited with composing many of the Psalms—songs of worship, lament, and divine praise that continue to inspire believers to this day. Despite personal trials and moral failings, David’s deep repentance and intimate relationship with God earned him the title "a man after God's own heart" (1 Samuel 13:14). His legacy endures as a symbol of courage, humility, and faith.
